[English] These 24k gold springs will be used to make very special grippers to commemorate the 1st armwrestling seminar in Korea. (instructor: James Retarides)

According to the IronMind News:

In what was the first attempt since 2004 to officially close a Captains of Crush No. 4 gripper, Romanian arm wrestler Ioan Cristian Puscasu came close, but it was no cigar. Knowing that this was history in the making, the attempt was filmed live by Romanian TV and this is how Puscasu’s referee, professional strongman Paul Pirjol, reported the action to IronMind:

“Just got back from Ioan’s No. 4 gripper attempt and I’m sorry but I want to tell you that he missed it! He closed the gripper, but still had 2 millimeters until touch it, he was close but not enough! after that he did like 7 reps with the 3.5 CoC just for the tv.”

In case you’re not familiar with Ioan Cristian Puscasu, he certifed on the Captains of Crush No. 3.5 gripper quite casually at the 2010 WAF World Armwrestling Championships. Great effort, Ioan and thanks a million, Paul for all your good work that helped to make this attempt to officially close the Captains of Crush No. 4 gripper possible.

[English] MANUS Enterprises used the term “company rating” because a lot of customers have been confused by RGC results. The company rating is (close to) what average people actually feel in their hands when they attempt to close the grippers. In general, the company ratings are similar (or 10 – 20% harder) to the calibration results when the 1″ strap is placed on the middle of the handle (not at the end).

[English] According to

On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 Ioan Cristian Puscasu a.k.a. “The Bear” will attempt to close the No. 4 Captains of Crush® Gripper under certification rules, on romanian TV sports channel –

In 2010, Ioan “The Bear” Puscasu closed very easily CoC No. 3.5, without even doing a warming up before. He closed the gripper and he kept it closed almost 10 seconds. Next he attempted to close CoC No.4 but he missed it by a very small gap, due to the muscle fatigue gained from closing the CoC No. 3.5.

It is very important to mention that all the men from Who’s Who No. 4 Captains of Crush® Grippers list were certified before 2005 year. In 2005 were introduced the new GR8™ Springs, but more important is that the Rules for Closing were drastically changed, the major difference being the new credit/ATM card rule.

If Ioan “The Bear” Puscasu succeeds in officially closing the No. 4 Captains of Crush® Gripper, he would be the first man to do it on the new Rules for Closing and with the new GR8™ Springs.

We wish him good luck (we know he did it before, but not officially) !
